Pharma BD Deal Intelligence
Sanofi acquired UK-based Kymab for up to $1.45B ($1.1B upfront in cash plus up to $350M in milestones; deal closed April 2021), gaining KY1005 - now amlitelimab, a fully human anti-OX40L monoclonal antibody for atopic dermatitis and other immune-mediated diseases. The acquisition rationale - building Sanofi's immunology pipeline beyond Dupixent with a differentiated, non-JAK, non-IL-4/13 mechanism - has since been validated by the pivotal OCEANA Phase 3 program: COAST 1 (Sep 2025) and SHORE (Jan 2026) met all primary and key secondary endpoints in moderate-to-severe atopic dermatitis, while COAST 2 met its US co-primary endpoint but missed the EU co-primary. On the totality of data Sanofi announced it will pursue global regulatory submissions, with filings planned for H2 2026; the AQUA and ESTUARY Phase 3 studies are expected to read out in H2 2026.
