Gilead Sciences and LEO Pharma entered a strategic partnership under which Gilead acquired global development, manufacturing and commercialization rights to LEO Pharma's preclinical oral STAT6 program, comprising small molecule oral STAT6 inhibitors and targeted protein degraders, for inflammatory diseases. STAT6 is the transcription factor required for IL-4 and IL-13 signaling, a validated Th2 inflammation axis relevant to atopic dermatitis, asthma and COPD. LEO Pharma receives $250 million upfront and is eligible for up to $1.7 billion in total payments. LEO Pharma retains an option to co-commercialize the oral program in dermatology outside the U.S. and retains exclusive global rights to topical STAT6 formulations in dermatology.
