On-strategy rare-disease/transplant platform, early stage
Full analysis, sources & comparables →United Therapeutics announced on July 2, 2026 that it has acquired privately held, preclinical-stage Thymmune Therapeutics for USD 140 million in cash (subject to post-closing adjustments), with former shareholders eligible for up to USD 160 million in earn-outs tied to clinical and regulatory milestones through the end of 2031. Thymmune's platform converts human induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) into thymic cells that mature in vivo to restore healthy T-cell function. Lead candidate THY-100 is in preclinical development for congenital athymia, an ultra-rare, life-threatening condition in which infants are born without a functional thymus. The platform complements United Therapeutics' organ-supply mission and its UThymoKidney program.
