2025 · Licensing/Option · $1.6B · Complete
Gilead's Kite Pharma entered a license and collaboration agreement with China's Pregene Biopharma to develop next-generation in vivo cell therapies targeting hematological malignancies and solid tumors. Kite paid $120 million upfront with Pregene eligible for up to approximately $1.52 billion in milestone payments, for a total of roughly $1.64 billion. Pregene retains rights in China; Kite leads development, manufacturing and commercialization for the rest of the world. The deal follows Kite's $350 million acquisition of Interius BioTherapeutics, which supplied its in vivo platform.
This deal is too recent to grade. Critic Score and Outcome Score are assigned after the announcement-week coverage settles and, for Outcome, after the 5-year post-close assessment window opens — expected 2030 at the earliest for this deal, once/if it closes.
