Pharma BD Deal Intelligence
Servier acquired Agios Pharmaceuticals' oncology business for up to $2B ($1.8B upfront plus a $200M milestone and a 5% royalty on future vorasidenib net sales), announced December 21, 2020 and completed April 1, 2021. The deal delivered Tibsovo (ivosidenib) for IDH1-mutant cancers plus the clinical-stage IDH pipeline led by vorasidenib. The thesis has since been realized: vorasidenib won FDA approval as Voranigo on August 6, 2024 — the first targeted therapy for Grade 2 IDH-mutant glioma (INDIGO phase 3, median PFS 27.7 vs 11.1 months) — and its U.S. launch drove Servier oncology revenue to €2.21B in 2024/25 (+54.6%), making the IDH franchise the anchor of Servier's precision-oncology identity.
