Fresenius SE / Fresenius Kabi / WuXi Biologics

2026 · Co-Development · Complete

Fresenius SE & Co. KGaA entered an exclusive development agreement with WuXi Biologics (2269.HK) granting Fresenius exclusive option rights to up to 37 identified first-to-market biosimilar candidates over the next decade, described by the parties as the largest development agreement announced in the biosimilars industry to date. The arrangement would expand Fresenius biosimilars from 29 marketed and pipeline molecules to as many as 66, spanning 13 therapeutic areas including oncology, immunology, gastroenterology, neurology, nephrology and cardiopulmonary, and addressing more than EUR 370 billion in originator sales. Fresenius holds exclusive global commercialization rights, including marketing authorizations, and the full economics of each commercialized product, compensating WuXi Biologics on a fee-for-service basis for each candidate it selects. Development is expected to use the WuXi Biologics global network. The agreement builds on the recent Fresenius acquisition of mAbxience.

This deal is too recent to grade. Critic Score and Outcome Score are assigned after the announcement-week coverage settles and, for Outcome, after the 5-year post-close assessment window opens — expected 2031 at the earliest for this deal, once/if it closes.
