On 2026-10-05 Gate Bioscience expanded its existing research collaboration and license agreement with Eli Lilly, first struck in July 2025, to discover oral small-molecule molecular gate therapeutics that eliminate difficult-to-drug disease-causing proteins by blocking their secretion at the endoplasmic reticulum translocon. The expansion adds one drug target with an option to add a second. Gate receives an undisclosed upfront payment and research funding, an additional payment if the second target is selected, and is eligible for milestone payments and royalties on global sales; total potential value is reported at more than USD 870M. Gate leads discovery while Lilly is responsible for late-stage preclinical and clinical development, manufacturing and commercialization, with exclusive worldwide rights to products directed at the selected targets. Targets and indications were not disclosed.
