On June 16, 2026, Eli Lilly and Company announced the acquisition of 4E Therapeutics, an Austin, Texas-based neuroscience company developing non-opioid treatments for chronic pain. Financial terms were not disclosed. 4E's lead compound, 4ET1103, is an orally available MNK inhibitor targeting the MNK-eIF4E signaling pathway in peripheral sensory neurons; it is the first MNK inhibitor for pain to enter human trials and showed a favorable safety profile in a Phase 1 study. The deal adds to Lilly's non-opioid pain strategy, following its prior agreement to acquire sodium-channel-focused SiteOne Therapeutics, and marks one of Lilly's many 2026 acquisitions.
