AstraZeneca signed a drug discovery collaboration and licensing agreement with insitro to apply machine learning to target identification and therapeutic design in metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and cardiomyopathies. insitro will use its Virtual Human platform - which integrates human and cellular datasets with machine learning to relate genetic variation to disease development and progression - to identify causal biological mechanisms in both indications and to advance AstraZeneca-nominated targets from discovery through development candidate selection. AstraZeneca takes responsibility for subsequent clinical development, regulatory filings and commercialisation. insitro receives $40M upfront, is eligible for up to approximately $1.46B in milestones, and would receive tiered single-digit royalties on global product sales.
