Novartis, through its Sandoz division, acquired Lek Pharmaceuticals, Slovenia's largest drugmaker, for EUR 876M (CHF 1.3B) via a friendly public tender offer that reached 99.07% acceptance. The acquisition expanded Sandoz's global generics platform and completed in November 2002.
