Pharma BD Deal Intelligence
Mankind Pharma agreed to acquire a 70% controlling stake in Belgium-based Armed Cell Therapeutics (ACTx) for EUR 48M (approximately Rs 511 crore), to be invested in instalments through its Netherlands subsidiary. The transaction marks the Mankind entry into next-generation CAR-T cell therapy and gives it an advanced cell-therapy research platform plus a preclinical pipeline led by programmes in non-Hodgkin lymphoma and small cell lung cancer, including approaches intended to make engineered T cells more persistent and more cytotoxic and to generate CAR-T cells in vivo. The deal is a departure from the prior Mankind M&A pattern, which centred on strengthening its domestic portfolio (Panacea Biotec oncology and transplant brands in 2022, Bharat Serums and Vaccines in 2024).
