Galmed Pharmaceuticals agreed to acquire Israeli medical-device company Colospan for $4.5 million ($2.5 million cash + $2.0 million in Galmed ordinary shares, subject to escrow/adjustment), announced June 2026, repositioning Galmed as a GI-focused company. Colospan's CG-100 intraluminal bypass device protects the bowel anastomosis after colorectal surgery to reduce anastomotic leakage and avoid a diverting stoma; it is CE-marked under EU MDR (commercial-ready in EU/Israel) and holds FDA Breakthrough Device designation with a US pivotal trial ongoing. Galmed plans a ~$6M EU launch (Germany/Austria/Switzerland) in H2 2026. Closing expected Q2 2026.
