Forest Laboratories agreed to acquire privately held Aptalis for $2.9B in cash from TPG Capital, strengthening Forest's U.S. and Canadian gastrointestinal franchise and adding a U.S./European cystic fibrosis business. Deal closed February 3, 2014; Forest itself was acquired by Actavis four months later.
