Pharma BD Deal Intelligence
Ferring Pharmaceuticals and Gameto signed an agreement for a global transaction under which Ferring would acquire Gameto, a cell-engineering company focused on women's reproductive health, in a deal worth up to USD 1.3825 billion if development, regulatory and commercial milestones are met. The upfront payment was not disclosed. The central asset is Gameto's investigational in vitro maturation (IVM) programme, marketed as Fertilo, which uses induced pluripotent stem cell-derived ovarian support cells to mature oocytes in the laboratory. Conventional IVF requires roughly two weeks of hormone stimulation injections; the IVM approach is intended to compress that to a few days, reducing patient burden and cost. The programme is investigational in the United States and not FDA-approved. The transaction would combine Gameto's platform with Ferring's established global reproductive-medicine franchise and is subject to customary and other closing conditions; the two businesses will operate independently until completion, and no expected closing date was given.
