Antigenics acquired Aronex Pharmaceuticals for approximately $28.6 million, adding liposomal oncology assets (Atragen for acute promyelocytic leukemia, Annamycin, and Nyotran) to its heat-shock-protein-based cancer-vaccine platform. The Aronex programs were subsequently impaired or discontinued as Antigenics refocused on its lead candidate Oncophage.
